Pricing Plan for Haslett Speech Therapy
Therapy costs add up fast, and we want to prioritize keeping treatment accessible to families. At the same time, working with insurance companies is increasingly time consuming and stressful, especially for small private practices like this one. Additionally, insurance companies often add layers of barriers between a child’s needs and receiving support. For instance, many companies require pre-authorization, referrals from physicians, specific types of testing even when the therapist does not find it necessary to plan treatment. On top of that, many companies have caps on how many sessions will be deemed “necessary” for a child and won’t pay beyond that number. Any seasoned therapist will tell you that treatment time can vary wildly based on a large number of factors. Treatment plans should never be “one size fits all,” and yet that’s generally all that insurance companies will cover, if they will cover it at all!
Our plan to cut through all of these complications is to skip working with insurance all together using an innovative pricing plan for our families. Here’s how it works. We keep costs similar to the cost of a typical co-pay for each session, as long as families are open to their child being paired in a small (2 person max!) group with another child of similar age and with similar needs. Small groups can be beneficial to both students as they offer an opportunity for practice with social communication skills and a friend to make speech games even more fun!
Pricing plan:
30 minutes of therapy: $25 per child*
45 minutes of therapy: $37.50 per child*

45 minutes of guaranteed 1-on-1 therapy (or mobile therapy): $75 per child*
Pricing for evaluations: **
speech (articulation) only evaluation: $100 (includes 1-2 sessions to complete testing, as well as a follow up session to go over the results and recommended plan)
speech and language evaluation: $200 (usually takes 2-3 sessions to complete testing, as well as a follow up session to go over the results and recommended plan)
Payment options:
Currently we accept cash, check, or credit card. We are happy to create a superbill for each session for you to give to your insurance company. If you have out of network benefits sometimes they will reimburse some of the cost of therapy. It is always the responsibility of the client to communicate with their own insurance company. We also accept Health Savings Account/Flexible Spending Account (HSA/FSA) payments.
*We recommend therapy at least 2 times per week for all clients. Imagine if you wanted to start a new workout plan. Would you improve very quickly if you only exercised 1 day a week? Definitely not! You might make gains over time, but not nearly as quickly as if you followed your plan several times a week. When we try to make changes to the neural pathways in our brains, the same principle applies!
**If the cost of an evaluation is a hardship that is preventing your family from reaching out to start services, please let us know. We never want cost to be a barrier between a child and the support they need, and we have some alternative options to keep evaluation costs affordable. Additionally if your child has had recent evaluations through another therapist (maybe in Early On or the public schools), then we can often use those results to make a treatment plan rather than completing more testing.
